Huion Inspiroy H640P Review

I have been a Huion user for years typically the wider desk drawing tablet – Huion Inspiroy H1060P.

I bought this Huion Inspiroy H640P so I could draw on the go where carrying around a half a tonne desk drawing tablet wasn’t an option.

It hasn’t disappointed me . Perfect for me . Great value for money. Let’s take a look at it.

Unboxing

The Huion Inspiroy H640P comes in a nice looking white cover box with a sketch of a deer printed on the front.

Included in the box are the tablet, stylus pen, USB cable, 2 USB adpaters, warranty card, and a Pen stand.

The pen stand is a circular disk with a hole on top that fits the pen. Twisting the stand open reveals 8 extra pen nibs.

Design & Build Quality

The Huion Inspiroy H640P isn’t the most exciting-looking computer accessory, but it’s solidly built and feels sturdy enough to survive being thrown into a bag—so it should last for years of use.

The tablet does have these rubbery circles, underneath, at the four corners so it doesn’t move or slide as you draw. The top of the tablet has six quick-action buttons or ExpressKeys which you can customize.

Tablet Size

It only measures 10.23 x 5.8 inches with the active area being 6.3 x 3.9 inches, which is mapped to your computer screen.

This compact size of working area works well for laptop and small drawings, but it may not be a good fit for desktop users.

The bigger the tablet, the better the precision. The downside to this is that the larger the tablet, the more desk space it takes up.

As a rule of thumb, I normally recommend a medium sized tablet with 8 x5 inches or 10 x 6 inches active area for anyone using a monitor of 20-inch or larger.

Portability

In terms of portability and convenience, its small size, 277 grams weight, 8mm thickness, and separate USB interface allow you to move and work easily.

Stylus Pen

The H640P uses the same PW100 stylus that has been included with other Huion products, including the H950P, H1060P, H610 PRO V2, and more.

The stylus is battery-free, as it draws power from the Tablet through EMR technology, which eliminates the need for constant charging or battery replacements, ensuring uninterrupted drawing sessions.

With 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, 5080 LPI resolution, and 233PPS Report Rate, the stylus is very responsive and allows you to create intricate details and achieve the desired line variation in your artwork.

Shortcut Keys

The H640p includes six customizable express keys on the left side of tablet that can be assigned to functions that enhance your workflow, saving you time and effort.

Whether you zoom in and out, adjust brush sizes, or switch between tools, the tablet puts everything at your fingertips.

Compatibility

The H640p tablet is fully compatible with Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android, seamlessly integrating with Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Painter, Clip Studio Paint, Krita, and other major creative software.

But it doesn’t support Iphone/iOS and Chrome OS. Similarly, while it supports Android, it doesn’t work with Samsung devices.

Connect and Install the Driver

Connect the tablet to your laptop or computer through the USB Cable, and then visit Huion website and download the tablet driver to use it.

Once you’ve installed the driver, the icon shows up in your taskbar, and the driver also creates a shortcut on your desktop.

In the driver, you can configure your tablet expresskeys, pen buttons, pen pressure curve, and work area. There’s also an option to save different profiles.

You should spend some time configuring these items to your personal preference. If you don’t know how to do, watch the tuto video on youtube.

Drawing Experience

The Pw100 pen is light and comfortable to hold with a rubber grip, and the pressure sensitivity is excellent in real world use. Applying pressure on the pen led to thicker lines while releasing pressure resulted in thinner lines.

The small tablet still has a sizeable working area and if you work on a dual monitor setup, you can map this to a single screen which increases the resolution and precision you can achieve.

Additionally, the drawing surface of the tablet has a very paper-like matte texture, making it smooth but not slick for writing, which is perfect.

A thing to remember about the pen is that the nib (the point of the pen) does, in fact, wear down over time. Much of this depends on how often you use the tablet, and the amount of pressure you use.

As I have my tablet with me more often than not, I also find myself using it for more than just Photoshop and illustrator. My job requires me to spend a lot of time in Xournal++ taking notes and writing. I find that using the H640p tablet also speeds up my workflow in that application.

Price

At $29.99, Without a doubt – Huion Inspiroy H640p is a great value tablet over the much more expensive wacom options!

In Conclusion

Huion H640p is a good purchase for a beginner digital artist, designer or photographer on a tight budget but in need of a tablet to do touch-ups.

Its small size and solid build make it an ideal companion for anyone who works on a laptop, at home or on the go.
